Dakota MEP will be offering a Lean Enterprise Certification Program in Fargo beginning March 11, 2013. This is the only nationally certified and recognized program for Lean Certification in the country and is applicable for manufacturers and non-manufacturers.
Participants will receive a Lean Knowledge Certificate, and, as a recommended option, prove their proficiencies by passing the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Bronze Level Certificate Examination. The program also includes an on-site Lean Enterprise assessment prior to the start of the program.
There are two options to choose from:
Option 1:
Lean Enterprise Course with Lean Bronze Exam plus Project Portfolio Assistance, with one Kaizen Blitz
Option 2:
Lean Enterprise Course with Lean Bronze Exam
Note: One additional company kaizen blitz is included with any option if there are four (4) or more attendees from the same company. Option 1 includes a company kaizen blitz, regardless of company attendance, and also includes project portfolio guidance.
The 2013 schedule is as follows:
- March 11- Session 1 - Principles of Lean with Factory Simulation
- March 25 - Session 2 - 5S Workplace Organization/High Performance Teams
- April 08- Session 3 - Company Kaizan
- April 22 - Session 4 - Standarized Work/ Quick Changeover & Total Productive Maintenance
- May 6 - Session 5 - Company Kaizan
- May 20 - Session 6 - Pull Kanban/Cellular Flow
- June 3 - Session 7 - Value Stream Mapping & Processing Mapping/Problem Solving
- June 17 - Session 8 - Lean Bronze Exam — Options 1 and 2 only
- TBD - Kaizen Blitz and Portfolio Assistance — Option 1 only

Does your company struggle getting a worker productive quickly, properly, and safely when learning a new job function or task?

JOB INSTRUCTION establishes a standardized repeatable training process to do ANY job safely, (integrating all safety regulations and requirements into the job requirements), correctly (with fewer errors), consistently (every time), and successfully (meeting all job requirements).
On October 1, 2012 the ND Petroleum Council (NDPC) was awarded a $148,800 grant from North Dakota Workforce Safety and Insurance (WSI) to raise awareness of safety issues in workforce development and for offering training scholarships to participate in the Training Within Industry Job Instruction program as a solution to the problem. Dakota MEP has partnered with the NDPC and WSI to achieve these grant objectives. Program is limited to five per company, based on WSI policy number, however, additional participants may be allowed, at full registration fee, if workshops don't fill up.
